Utley Food Markets

The new Utley the board might want to set up a compensation for-execution framework. I don't get this' meaning to the Utley the executives? Pay for execution framework will have a potential number of outcomes to the Utley the board, these impacts will be chiefly focused in transit that the framework is fused into the association, the way of life of the association, the impression of the representatives in the association and how open the framework will be as respects to its targets.Advertising We will compose a custom basic composing test on Utley Food Markets explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More In any association, installment issues are significantly delicate and it along these lines requires a positive strategic way to deal with accomplish the ideal outcomes. As proposed by Blinder (2002) pay for execution framework will work contrastingly for various associations. This is for the most part a result of the way of life of the association and the impression of the representatives with respect to the reasonableness of the framework. The Utley the executives should comprehend that there are favorable circumstances and drawbacks of actualizing the framework. On a positive note, the current framework on the employee’s execution examination has gotten negative observation from the representatives; the presentation of the new framework might be a significant alleviation to the administration and the workers of the association. This will be the situation just if the framework meets the central necessities of a compensation for execution framework and is additionally appropriately incorporated into the association. The significant targets for this framework incorporates yet not restricted to the accompanying; representatives will be propelled to be progressively profitable as the outcomes interfaces direct with the installments of remunerations in the association, the workers will feel reasonableness in the framework as they will be compensate d dependent on their endeavors, and the persistent check and parity framework will likewise ensure the decency of the framework. To the administration, they will require sufficient subsidizing of the framework, strong association culture that can incorporate installment for execution framework, satisfactory preparing for managers and the workers, reasonable and powerful chiefs and continuous framework assessment process that guarantees decency. To the administration of the Utley, this framework will mean reasonableness, execution situated association and therefore increment in the creation of the company’s representatives. The continuous check and parity framework will guarantee that the framework runs easily and important framework adjustment finished with respect to the evolving time, culture and the size of the association. What changes should be made in the manner the framework works now? The framework activity right now has gotten negative observation from the workers pr imarily in light of two essential reasons; initially the framework isn't available to employee’s recommendations and analysis, fundamentally the representatives have less information on how their presentation assessment is conveyed out.Advertising Looking for basic composition on business financial aspects? These arrangements in the current framework show absence of legitimate installment and execution assessment framework initiated in the association to improve reasonableness and receptiveness. Podmoroff (2005) recommends that framework improvement inside the association particularly as to workers r eward is basic for the organization’s endurance. So as to improve the current framework, it is important to address the essential shortcomings of the framework. This framework should hence be changed in accordance with be progressively open on how the employees’ execution is assessed all together for the workers to get an opportunity to clarify their horrible showing at whatever point essential. Including representatives in this basic dynamic procedure won't just make the framework reasonable yet additionally rouse workers and accordingly upgrade an exhibition situated association. The framework ought to likewise shape an office that manages the complaints of representatives inside an association and those without the association. The change of pay on the grounds that the representative has griped should be expelled and legitimate channels of installment alterations set up to manage the circumstance. The compensation for execution framework should in this way be acquir ed and coordinated into the association so as to build the reasonableness, productivity and the presentation of the Utley Food Markets association. By what means may these progressions be actualized? These progressions that look to address the installment issues in Utley Foods Market association should be tended to in light of a few things. The current associations culture should be thought of, the idea of the association structure likewise should be thought of, and the accessibility of subsidizing choice ought to likewise be tended to. When these components among others are considered by the administration of Utley, the changing procedure will be simpler and with less obstructions. The way toward changing to the new framework ought to guarantee that the representatives are included. This can be accomplished by appropriate correspondence and preparing all together for the workers to grasp the organization’s destinations and their basic job in achieving these goals and how the installment framework will function.Advertising We will compose a custom basic composing test on Utley Food Markets explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More Assuming that these issues are simple will crash the targets of rebuilding process (Blinder, 2002). Straightforwardness of the installment framework is another basic thought in receiving the installment strategy. The company’s workers ought to be educated on what wanted practices and achievements will be satisfied by the new installment framework. Moreover, it will be important to guarantee a reliable and positive input with respect to the exhibition of the representatives. At this stage, the boss or the administration of Utley should prepare workers on the normal achievements, how well they should introduce their endeavors and demonstrating them their past evaluations as respects to their presentation and the reason for the rating. After the reconciliation of the new framework following the referenced elem ents, it is basic for the Utley the board to set up a check and parity framework that will guarantee the adequacy and the bosses caution in assessing and thusly remunerating the organization’s workers. It is significant for the compensation framework to be reasonable both in the apparent edge and the real edge in regards to the worker and the association individually. At the point when this is the situation, believability and rousing force will be upgraded once the framework is set up. Which of the nonmonetary changes will help spur better execution? Safeguard your situation There are various contemplations that the Utley the board ought to receive and incorporate into the association to improve and rouse the company’s representatives without essentially biasing towards compensating them fiscally. Making a sound situation is the underlying advance in improving the laborers execution. The earth where workers can associate unreservedly with themselves and the administrat ion will guarantee their self-improvement and the sentiment of having a place. At the point when the administration asks issues about their own lives and make positive commitments with guidance and show of concern has the best effect on the company’s workers, this will mean execution in the association. Orchestrating workshops and instructional meetings that tends to various professions of the authoritative representatives is another basic advance in improving the employee’s execution. These classes won't just advance the representatives execution rate yet in addition rouse them to accomplish their own objectives in the association (Bruce, 2008).Advertising Searching for basic composition on business financial aspects? We should check whether we can support you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Find out More Giving representatives satisfactory occasions to go to their own issues is likewise another significant advance in persuading them. Workers who are depleted and possess little energy for their own issues will consistently perform beneath their normal principles. It is in this manner important to enhance employee’s occasions with the end goal for them to invigorate themselves and have a period off their standard work. The other huge issue that the administration of Utley needs to guarantee is the smooth progression of correspondence process, this will upgrade a sound situation for the collaboration procedure required in any association to create quality work and along these lines meet the goals of the association. Basically, correspondence is the way to effective inspiration process since the administration will be in a decent situation to comprehend the employee’s requests and complaints; thus this will expand their exhibition in the field. Question: Talk about the Entrepreneurship related with TOYOTA Engineering Innovations . There have been various endeavors to creation, dispersion, and continuing of hierarchical developments. (Zhou Shalley 2008) They have discovered that the improvement of these headways is influenced by three central plans of factors: the natural setting, the hierarchical setting, and external and inside change administrators. Comparing Oedipus and Minority Report

Sophocles Oedipus the King and Spielberg Minority Report. (Basic Essay) Sutton, nana. Full Text: COPYRIGHT 2005 Wheeled distributions Many English instructors today pair more seasoned, accepted works with ongoing movies that emphatically insinuate those prior worksâ€Mrs.. Daylong and The Hours, for instance, or Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now. One palling educators should seriously mull over Is Sophocles Oedipus the King with Steven Spielberg 2002 film Minority Report. While it would be a misrepresentation to call Minority Report a cutting edge retelling of the Oedipus story, the film borrows the majority of the focal components of Sophocles play.In specific, the play and the film share an accentuation on exacting and representative vision and visual impairment, a plot gadget wherein a hero is told he will submit a homicide later on, and a topical worry with destiny and through and through freedom. Minority Report builds up its accentuation on vision and visual impairment ins ide the main moment of the film. The principal words we hear are â€Å"You realize how dazzle I am without them,† spoken by a character named Howard Marks about his glasses. As we hear these words, we see a scissor sharp edge wound through the eye of a face In a magazine photograph, as Marks' young child removes pictures for a schoolwork project.A few moments later, we see a nearby of an eyeball. This Is, obviously, suggestive not just of Oedipus wounding out his own eyes yet in addition of the numerous remarks about vowels and visual impairment In Sophocles play, for example, Oedipus remark to the plague-assaulted theme, â€Å"How might I be able to neglect to perceive what longings bring you here? † (142). As in the first citation from Sophocles play, both the film and the play utilize pictures of vision and visual impairment to allude not exclusively to physical sight yet in addition to seeing as understanding. And in the two works, this comprehension includes past a nd future killings. In the film's initial moment, we see pictures of occasions that have not yet occurred, yet which are being â€Å"seen† by a lady named Ghats, the individual whose eye shows up in the nearby. Ghats is the most talented of three â€Å"process†Ã¢â‚¬humans favored and reviled with the capacity to imagine kills before they occur, and in this manner used to caution the police of the killings so they can be forestalled, In a framework called â€Å"Presence. In the initial scene, Howard Marks has Just â€Å"seen† that his significant other Is engaging in extramarital relations and that he is going to murder her and her darling with the scissors. Be that as it may, the police?led by the elm's hero, John Andersonâ€prevent him from doing as such. Correspondingly, in Oedipus the King, the one character who comprehends reality and knows the future toward the start of the play, Eateries, tells Oedipus, â€Å"You're oblivious in regards to the defileme nt of your life† (162).In Minority Report, the connecting of physical sight with seeing, explicitly of murders, reaches out a long ways past the initial arrangement. Afterward, Ghats, tormented by realizing who killed her mom and by the way that the police have been tricked with respect to the killer's personality, over and again yells, â€Å"Can you see? To John Anderson as she attempts to lead him to illuminate the wrongdoing. Also, when Anderson at long last perceives that his enthusiasm For this past wrongdoing is the explanation he has been set up to be captured for a future homicide, his first words are, â€Å"How might I be able to not have seen TLS? â€a line suggestive of Oedipus articulation, soon after understanding reality of his circumstance, that he had been too long â€Å"blind to the ones [he] ached to Report assume a job closely resembling that of the Oracle at Delphi in Oedipus the King, a similitude made express in the film. The procedure remain in a re gion alluded to as â€Å"the ample,† and from the get-go in the film, one character alludes to the procedure on the whole as â€Å"the oracle,† and their handlers, the police, as â€Å"the clerics. Also, in both the play and the film, soon enough, the prophet tells the hero that he will submit murder. As a youngster, Oedipus was told he would slaughter his dad and have kids by his mom (185); right off the bat in the film, Anderson is educated by the procedure that he will kill somebody named Leo Crow. Albeit the two heroes are educated that they will submit kills later on, both the play and the film are set in universes emitted by the way that political pioneers have not been distinguished for murders they submitted in the past.In Oedipus the King, Thebes experiences a plague that can be expelled just when the killer of the past ruler is found and punishedâ€a killer who ends up being the present lord, Oedipus. In Minority Report, Washington, DC (and in this manner verifiably the whole country, particularly since exact is going to go national as opposed to being constrained to DC) is tainted by the way that the head of exact, Lamar Burgess, has killed Ghats' mom to forestall losing Ghats as a precook, unbeknownst to anybody yet Ghats. Thus in the two works, the hero is doubly an analyst: he should find reality with regards to the prophet's expectation that he would kill somebody, and he should understand the homicide that defiles the political world where the work is set. What's more, the heroes of the two works get predictions from apparently divine prophets, yet in addition from daze humans. Diners proclaims that Oedipus is himself the killer of the past lord (159) and afterward includes, accurately, that continuously end Oedipus will be diminished to dazzle poor person and will realize he is both child and spouse to his better half, both sibling and father to his kids (164).In Minority Report, a shabby character with peculiar, empty attachme nts where his eyes ought to be sells John Anderson a medication he calls â€Å"Clarity† and afterward says, â€Å"In the nation of the visually impaired, the one-peered toward man is king†Ã¢â‚¬a explanation that demonstrates prophetic later in the film when Anderson, having just one of his unique eyes, can outmaneuver other people who are â€Å"blind† to the genuine circumstance in regards to the homicide that Burgess submitted. The most self-evident, and clearly sight-related, truly between the two works is the way that the two heroes deliberately lose their eyes. And for each situation, this loss of eyes to a great extent corresponds with the hero's capacity to â€Å"see† from a more profound perspective. When Oedipus understands that he did in fact murder his dad and wed his motherâ€once he sees the truthâ€he wounds out his eyes. In the advanced universe of Minority Report, inescapable eye examines make concealing basically inconceivable, thus And erson, when he is needed for the future homicide of Leo Crow, has his eyes evacuated and traded for an alternate pair to avoid identification, having en informed by one with respect to the creators of exact that â€Å"Sometimes so as to see the light you need to hazard the dull. It is just through this trading of eyesâ€and through holding at any rate one of his unique eyes in a plastic pack, for use in eye examines for security clearanceâ€that he is in the long run ready to â€Å"see the light† and tackle the two riddles: why he is blamed for killing Leo Crow and how Lamar Burgess killed Ghats' mom. At the point when we arrive at the hero's experience with the individual he was anticipated to slaughter, both the play and the film are to some degree equivocal other), as the prophet had said he would, in spite of each exertion he makes to abstain from satisfying this fate.Indeed, his endeavors to maintain a strategic distance from his destiny lead him to exactly the spot where he should be to satisfy it. In any case, pundits have since quite a while ago underlined that the character attributes Oedipus shows in the plays present are decisively the ones that would have normally driven him to respond as he did when he experienced his dad (Knox and Thaliana 598). They have additionally accentuated that the divine beings can know the future without causing it (Odds 23). Along these lines, the murdering appears to be both an outflow of inflexible destiny and the characteristic articulation of Oedipus character.Similarly, when John Anderson at long last faces Leo Crow, he attempts to capture Crow instead of slaughter him†however Crow, resolved to kick the bucket, snatches for Andersen's weapon and is in the long run lethally shot, with the film uncertain regarding whether Anderson (incidentally) or Crow (purposefully) pulls the trigger. In this way, Anderson doesn't endeavor to kill Crow yet assumes a job in the man's demise. In addition, the film in comprehensibly demands that despite the fact that the future can be precisely anticipated, the individuals who realize their future have the ability to change it.Thus, the two works yield extensive capacity to destiny yet additionally leave space with the expectation of complimentary will. Minority Report suggests Oedipus the King in littler manners also. From the get-go, a character named Danny Witter more than once makes reference to finding a â€Å"flaw† in Anderson†clearly a reverberation of the idea of â€Å"tragic flaw† in characters like Oedipus. Afterward, as interest drives Anderson toward going up against Leo Crow, whom he has never met yet whom he is â€Å"supposed† to kill, Ghats cautions him, â€Å"You have a decision. Leave. Presently. † But he won't, saying, â€Å"l can't. I need to know. I need to discover what befell my life.

Controlled Substance Act - Free Essay Example

Controlled Substance Act: The Legalization of Marijuana The Controlled Substances Act (CSA) was approved by the Congress in 1970. Section II of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act, is the federal U.S. drug policy that controls the custody, use, engineering and import of specific controlled substances. The drugs listed in the CSA fall under different categories; the categories are known as schedules. The legislation created 5 schedules with different explanations for a substance to be contained within in each. The schedule one drugs are viewed as extremely dangerous while the drugs listed on schedule five are not as dangerous (drugpolicy.org). Some of the drugs listed under the act are as less harmless than nicotine, caffeine and alcohol. One of the drugs I believe should be removed from the list is marijuana for various different reasons. During the 1920s many Mexican immigrants fled to the United States for work. With them, many of them brought marijuana. The act of smoking marijuana was picked up on by many musicians during the 1920s and 1930s, but was not used widespread until the 1960s. During the 1930s, a marijuana conviction could result in up to a six month sentence. In 1937, the Treasury Department established a marijuana transfer tax known as the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, after testifying before Congress. After 1937 up until the passing of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Act of 1970, which include the Controlled Substance Act of 1970, marijuana was legally controlled through a transfer tax. Marijuanaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s classification as a schedule I drug means that the DEA defines it as a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“drug with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuseà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ (Hirst, 2013). Hirst contends that this illegal status of the drug has been a major impediment facilitating research that would evaluate potential benefits of the drug. The author also points out that à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“a compli cated federal approval process and limited availability of research-grade marijuana add to the difficultyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ (Hirst, 2013). Classifying it to a Schedule II drug, according to the author, would mean that it is still considered harmful, but it would acknowledge that the drug has à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“potential medical valueà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ and, therefore, facilitate research (Hirst, 2013). On the other hand, marijuana can become psychologically addictive. A psychological addiction occurs when the cravings for a drug are emotional. But, canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t anything become addictive? Caffeine, alcohol, and video games are three common propensities, and they are perfectly legal. Yes, some people get à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“hookedà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ on marijuana and are overcome by the desire to have it in their system. That also happens with caffeine and alcohol, does it not? Indeed, marijuana is just like everything else, an addiction if you allow yourself to perceive it that way. In fac t, the human mind is one of the most omnipotent things in the world; you can convince yourself to believe just about anything you want to, hence leaving room for psychological addictions. Accordingly, addictions like caffeine, alcohol, and video games can be prevented by limiting your intake/playing time and keeping your mind in line with the facts. The Controlled Substances Act of 1970 led to several other laws being formed that would further criminalize marijuana and other recreational drugs. One year after the establishment of the Controlled Substances Act, President Nixon declared the War on Drugs. This attempt to control recreational drug use among Americans is seen today as one of the biggest failures and biggest wastes of money in American history. Every year hundreds of thousands to millions of people are arrest for drug violations. About half of these arrests are for small amounts of marijuana. In 1973, New York States legislature passed the Rockefeller Drug Laws. These laws would give long prison sentences for drug offenders. These offenses were most commonly for the sale or possession of small amounts of illicit drugs like marijuana. Since the inception of the Rockefeller Drug Laws, over 150,000 New Yorkers have been sent to prison for non-violent drug offenses. Between the years of 1974 and 2002, the prison population in New York rose by almost 500%. Marijuana is the most common illegal drug used in the United States with roughly 100 million Americans admitting to trying marijuana at least once. The U.S. has the largest prison population in the world, with about 2.3 million behind bars. More than half a million of those people are incarcerated for a drug law violation (cnn.com). The government currently spends billions of dollars every year to chase peaceful people who happen to like to use marijuana as a relaxer, such as people who us alcohol or tobacco. These people get locked up in prison and the taxpayers have to pay the bill. We have to pay for food, housing, healthcare, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock up people who use marijuana on their own time. A Pew study says it costs the U.S. an average of $30,000 a year to incarcerate an inmate, but the nation spends only an average $11,665 per public school student. The future of our nations and our children should be our priority. We should be helping people addicted to drugs break their habits rather than putting users in prison (cnn.com). The government estimated if marijuana were to be taxed in the same manner as tobacco and alcohol it would bring in nearly 50 billion in tax income yearly. Estimated annual revenue in the state of California alone would raise $1,400,000,000 if it taxed and regulated the sale of marijuana (drugpolicy.org). Legalizing marijuana would save the U.S. a yearly total of $41 billion by not enforcing marijuana arrest; this money can be used for health and educational benefits. Advocates of medical marijuana claim that t he drug can be a safe and effective treatment for the symptoms of AIDS, Cancer, glaucoma, pain, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and other conditions. The government should legalize marijuana for medical and recreational use to help patients, create tax revenue, and end the non-stop war on drugs. People can decide whether or not they want to use marijuana. The government only has the right to limit the choice of an individual only if the action endangers someone else. When talking about marijuana this should not apply because those who choose to use marijuana on his or her free will. The government also may have a right to limit individual actions if the actions pose a significant threat to the individual. But this argument does not logically apply to marijuana because marijuana is far less dangerous than some drugs which are legal, such as alcohol and tobacco. Then legalization might reduce the likelihood of moving on to harder drugs. References Hirst, J. E. Essay about The Detriments of the Welfare System - 2478 Words

During the 1960’s when I was growing up, children always came after marriage. If a woman had a baby out-of-wedlock, her family would frequently be disgraced. More often then not she would marry the baby’s father, but somewhere between then and now, things changed. Today, having a baby out-of-wedlock has become very acceptable. As a matter of fact, being unemployed, unmarried, or poor is no longer a concern. That is to say, expectant mothers can depend on government support if they are income eligible. The first problem associated with these programs is that for a large number of these women and their families’ welfare has turned into a long-term dependency. The second dilemma is that their welfare lifestyle has created many of our nation’s†¦show more content†¦The problem is that this need has progressively developed into a chronic dependency, very similar to an addiction. While it arguably makes perfect sense for these women to use the system to their advantage, the real issue is that many of them are actually abusing it. For example mothers on welfare continue to have more children without any concern about taking financial responsibility for supporting them. Neither do they identify or marry the father. The truth is that welfare was not intended as a long term solution but as a temporary fix to help people during hard times. Regrettable women, in particular, become trapped within this system and here is where the system has failed. Hence, one of the intentions of the â€Å"family cap† is to discourage this obvious dependency on welfare. Historically, public assistance was created to help prevent many of our nation’s social problems. It started with the Social Security Act of 1935. This act included a comprehensive welfare system that according to Kelly J. Gastley was not only a â€Å"financial safety net for poor and needy Americans† but also the â€Å"center of great political controversy.† The ADC, Aid to Dependent Children was one of the programs created by the Social Security Act. The Effects Of Sports On Soccer Game - 1846 Words

Consider the following actions in a soccer game: A player trash talks to the opposing team to mentally get in their heads. A player kicks the ball away to waste time when he dribbled the ball out of bounds. A player pushes an opposing player away because the player accidentally stepped on his foot. Are all of these actions a part of the game? Yes. Are any of these actions virtuous? It would not appear so. Contrary to some beliefs, sport plays an important role in life. It is used as enjoyment, a profession, a bonding of individuals, and a way to stay physically healthy. On top of all this, sport can also build character which can additionally lead to becoming more virtuous. Aristotle said â€Å"†¦ the things that one who has learned them needs to do, we learn by doing†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Nichomachean Ethics 1103a 33-34). By this, Aristotle means that in order to acquire knowledge about something, we must do that thing. Sport provides an excellent opportunity to learn by doing. So, g aining insight on what Aristotle says about virtue can teach athletes important lessons on how using sport can help them to become more virtuous. Before diving into the depths of how one can use athletics to live a more virtuous life, it is important to acquire knowledge on what exactly Aristotle says about living a virtuous life. Writing free essay sample

The happiest moment in my life actually occurred quite recently. It all began in junior year, where I had the greatest English teacher imaginable- fun, smart, and engaging. Mrs. Jerabeks class was so comfortable, I didnt even think I was learning. Thats when I realized exactly how much I had learned: more than any other class before. This was a class I would never forget. Throughout the year, we were given writing assignments exploring the various forms of creative writing. Everything I wrote was near and dear to my heart, something that had never happened before. Somehow I channeled deep emotion into my writing. One in particular continually brings me to tears: a poem entitled, 1915 Never Again. It describes the Armenian Genocides effect on the existence of our people; however, nowhere did I mention the word Armenia. In our writing groups, my classmate remarked, Are you talking about World War One? It sounds just like it. We will write a custom essay sample on Writing or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Suddenly, my simple poem had transformed into a voice for every war, every genocide, every tragedy throughout history. This past summer I applied for numerous scholarships, including a poem contest from the Live Poets Society of New Jersey. I decided to submit my only poem in the Of Faith and Inspiration category. Having been busy applying to others, I didnt think much of it. To my surprise, as I checked my e-mail one day, I saw a message from the LPSNJ: CONGRATULATIONS! It is our extreme pleasure to inform you that our judges have selected your poem for publication as a Topical Winner in American High School Poets, Of Faith and Inspiration, 2011. I had to read it twice before I broke the news to my parents. I couldnt believe it. My poem was going to be published in an anthology with other young writers worksI was going to be in a book! I then ordered a copy of this glorious publication and informed Mrs. Jerabek of my newfound achievement, who replied with great words of encouragement. The anthology will be published in December and at that time I will be a published poet. I had never before dreamed of this. I knew I was a good writer, but Mrs. Jerabek instilled in me the confidence and creativity to fully believe in my ability. In fact, she even recommended my involvement in Orange County Cappies. And as a result, one of my theater reviews was recently published in the OC Register! I am currently submitting my poem to Armenian publications, such as the Armenian Observer and The Zankag. Only in her class did I ever consider the possibility, nay, the necessity, of writing in my future career. Never before had I felt so accomplished and proud of myself- this was truly my greatest moment!

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Book Publicist

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Book Publicist How much does a book publicist cost? The short answer is fees vary mainly according to the services offered and the size of the firm you hire, but for the most part it is a commitment that will likely run you thousands, not hundreds, of dollars. If you were to hire one of the big New York-based firms, you would be talking six figures, and you would be getting a lot more than just a publicist – it would be a more holistic PR campaign that includes marketing, messaging, and more. Then there are specific book- and author-related firms that have offices in major urban areas that probably  will charge a significant project fee to start. Any services like event and media booking in tour cities, social media outreach, etc. are billed additionally. On a book- There are companies who offer individual a la carte options for campaigns for less than what it would cost to do a full campaign, including: = Sending your book out to a specific list of reviewers. = Sending a press release out to select radio, TV, print, and online producers/editors. = Radio tours with a guaranteed number of interviews scheduled. = Blog tours with a commitment on the number of reviews that will be posted. = Individual market campaigns, such as a firm that specializes in booking Los Angeles media and events. To minimize your costs, you may only ask for a mailing or a blog tour. Some of the businesses that handle these jobs are online-based and you may never actually speak to a person. This is how they keep their prices in the hundreds - If you hire a boutique public relations firm, you will likely either pay a project fee or a monthly retainer. It will depend on what you need and how much you want the company to do for you. The costs related to the kind of relationship with a client that includes individual attention, phone meetings, flexibility, and what I consider to be a long term, quality connection between the client and the firm will definitely run several thousands of dollars. The main considerations are: = What kinds of services do you need? = What kind of relationship do you want to have with the company you are working with? = How much work can you do on your own? What financial resources are reasonably at your disposal? = Can the company you want to work with negotiate with you to give you the best array of services at a price that is mutually agreeable? = Can you purchase specific services from the same company that will give you the best of both worlds: a more personalized campaign and lower costs? Public relations is an actual skill that takes a lot of time. Although it is sometimes very hard to measure results, rest assured the time and labor is being spent.   I think the most important quality your representative should have is a commitment to you and your work.   This person or company is going to help you gain exposure and will actually introduce your book to the world in interesting ways. So when you are looking for a publicist know that the old adage rings true– â€Å"you get what you pay for†Ã¢â‚¬â€œand if you are looking for someone who is going to work hard on your behalf, it isn’t going to be cheap.

Micro economics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Micro economics - Essay Example Moreover, a shift in other variables with price as an exception would cause a shift in the whole of the demand curve. The shift in the whole demand curve can be attained to be a shift in demand. Income Certain changes or alterations in income may mean increases or decreases in demand. A commodity whose demand tends to rise with a corresponding rise in income can be called a normal commodity. A commodity whose demand falls with a corresponding increase in income can be called an inferior commodity. This means that increases in income would tend to increase the demand for the mp3 player in the market. This is hence true since this is economically measures by economic experts in the economic field. Prices of other commodities Slight alterations or changes in the pricing of other commodities may result to a rise or fall in demand. A commodity that results to a rise in demand for another commodity when its price tends to increase can be called a substitute commodity. A commodity that brin gs about a fall in demand for another commodity when its price tends to rise can be referred to as a complementary commodity. This ultimately means that, an increase in the price of the mp3 player of another manufacturer or brand, may result to a corresponding rise in the demand of the original mp3 player in question, since it may be used as a substitute for the other commodity. Even if, one takes the case of beverage giants in the name of Coke and Pepsi, one realizes that an increase in the price of Pepsi would result in the rise, in demand of Coke. This is solely because these two products can be considered to be substitutes. . Number of buyers in the market A rise in the number of buyers, both potential and current buyers, would result to a rise in the demand for the mp3 player. Demand can be mainly based on the rise of population in that area. Future pricing actions A rise in the anticipated future prices of a commodity would certainly tend to cause a rise in the current demand. A fall in the anticipated future prices of a commodity would certainly decrease the future price. So a firm must highly be considered its future pricing of the mp3 player in question. Consumer tastes and preferences Shifting of the demand curve may also arise due to changes in the consumer tastes and preferences. If the consumers’ taste changes and starts liking more of the mp3 player, there would be a consistent rise in the quantity demanded. Derived quality Shift in the demand curve can be as a result of changes in the quality derived from the mp3 player by the consumer. If commodities produced are of a higher quality than the rival commodity, then this would bring a rightward shift of the demand curve (Heigy 1945, p.453). 2. The demand and supply schedules for wheat in a free market are as follows: Price per tonne (?) 120 160 200 240 280 320 360 400 Tonnes demanded per week 725 700 675 650 600 550 500 425 Tonnes supplied per week 225 300 400 500 600 750 1000 1300 I. Draw and briefly comment the demand and supply curves on the following diagram II. Define what is the equilibrium price and state what the equilibrium price is from your graph ? The equilibrium price is 280. The equilibrium price from my graph is 260. III. Suppose the government fixes a maximum price of ?200 per tonne. What will be the effect? Suppose the government fixes a price ceiling of 200 per tonne, it would result to certain effects. First, a disequilibrium

How International Business Can Effectively Compete in the Global Research Paper

How International Business Can Effectively Compete in the Global Market - Research Paper Example International logistics involves proper targeting and tiering. In the process, instead of applying a standardized supply chain services, the supply chain is marched with the requirement of each segment. Theories have found out that supply chain does not bring any competition to companies (Harrison and Hoek, 2005). International competition requires targeting and tiering as this will improve the supply chain, versatility and also improves the profit of the company making it great. There is also set by the managers to look keenly on human factors of international supply chain (Harrison and Hoek, 2008). Factors for competition in the market such as government instability, strikes by workers, holidays, unfavorable weather conditions and other unpredictable factors are only worsened when there are done in an international setting. Effective logistic function in an international marketplace is also done through evolving role and individual plants. In the current study the three main components that lead to success in the international setting are human resources, the processes used by the managers and the technology that is applied in the processes. Management of the relationship that a company has with the others also helps in effective competition in a marketplace (Pienaar and Vogt, 2012). The relationship will improve agreements on labor, environment implications and community development. Managers who are logistically skilled do not only consider packaging in their company but also focus on needs of the community for effective competition. Reconfiguration of process internationally supports the growth in the goals in a global marketplace. It involves the reconfiguration of technology that is used in the processes of the company. Critical and creative skills are needed in solving challenges that occur in international marketplace (Pienaar

Changing the system of a video library Essay Example for Free

Changing the system of a video library Essay The current system is a hand written and hand handled by Mr Roberts. It is a paper database where all details of the members, transaction and return details are stored. Mr Roberts currently operates all the system by himself and he does this to keep a record of all the bookings out of the videos, he does this by pen. He finds the page in the book allocated to the member, writes when the person needs to bring it back in, takes the payment then gives the video to the member. When a new member joins Mr Roberts takes all the details down in his book, then gives the new member a member number. Mr Roberts has to check every night for overdue videos. When a members page is full, then Mr Roberts has to get a new page, this just adds to the ever-growing file of Mr Roberts. There are lots of problems with the system, it is very slow, it would wear down with over use, he cannot cope with the growing number of customers, He has to check every night to see which videos are overdue and hand type each letter and send them off the same night. This would be increasingly difficult when lots of members join. Another problem is that the videos all have to be numbered and when a video is taken out a card is put in the original case giving the video number and return date. The new system would have to display all the details of the members on one screen and show when last rental and return was. It should be able to show all overdue videos on one screen. It should be very fast and speed up all aspects of the shop. If the database is faster and easier to manage then the number of members will increase and therefore so will the profit. Jonny Sharpe Possible solutions Mr Roberts could solve all his problems by using a filing cabinet. This would solve all his problems with information handling. The advantages of this would be that a filing cabinet is easier to cope than a filing book, the disadvantages are that it is still based on paper and they could easily be damaged or lost. Another problem is that it is still time consuming and would not be any faster, if anything slower than before. Another way to cope with this problem is putting all the files onto a computer. The computer would store all the information easily. The advantages of this are that it would significantly improve the speed and ease of running the video shop. The disadvantages are that it may cost a lot of money and all staff may not be trained in how to use a computer A computer program could be writ but expertise would be needed for this and this expertise I do not have. The next best alternative is that you could use a already existing program such as Microsoft Access. The information would be stored on multiple spread sheets, the information would consist of all the members details and the video details as well. These would be good because they can handle lots of multiplications and can search through information Mark foster System Choice Microsoft office xp professional edition. Pcworld: i 519 Inc vat Any computer could be chosen as long as it has Microsoft access and a printer for printing reports. Software Justification Justify choice of software: Word: The program needs to handle numbers but word is very good at typing letters. Excel: This program would be ok for the video shop but there would have to be 1 sheet for the videos and 1 sheet for the members details. This program would not be able to type letters up and print the letters off. Access: This program is excellent, this is because you can merge the video details and the members details together to give records of loans. This program can also produce reports in letter form and print them off. Data needed 1. This database is for the videos, it should show the number code, name. 2. Members details should be shown on this page, name, address, membership number, telephone number, current video rented and the date it is due back. Design section This shows that I have made two tables to store information, one for the members details and one for the video details. I have entered 50 videos and 5o members into the tables. I have designed the system to alert me when there are overdue videos and to be able to book out videos and book in videos with ease. I linked the two together by making a link between the membership number and the video number as shown below. These next pictures are of my queries. They are update queries which update booking in and booking out of videos. They are linked between the two tables and display the videos booked out and the membership number of the person along with some details. This is my form design. The form is for a member to fill in to automatically add his details to the members table. This is my report. This is basically to inform members that they are in possession of a overdue video and they need to return it. Members have their own membership no and each video has its own video number. This way members and videos dont get mixed up. This is an application form for the video shop, members are asked to fill out basic details. Analysis 1) What do I need from my database. I want it to store information about my members, including their name, address, telephone number, membership number, date of birth. Also in each members record will be stored the video they have rented (its code, not its title to speed things up) and also the date it is due back. Customers can only rent one video per day and it must be returned the next day. I also want the database to store information about the videos, including its code, title, price, certificate and category, eg horror, action, comedy etc. I want a system that will let me book videos in and out very quickly, just by entering the members number and the video code. I also want a system to check which videos havent been returned and create a letter that could be sent out if it hasnt been returned after 1 week. Sometimes people forget they have it so this should be a polite reminder. If they havent returned it after 2 days, then I usually phone them, so I would need it to produce a list of names and telephone numbers. I will answer the other questions at a later time as there are customers in the shop. Regards. Mr Roberts 2) To collect data from new members I have a form that they fill out. They write on it their name, address, tel. number, and date of birth. I write their new membership number on it. 3) Each member has a membership number. It is a four-digit number, starting at 1000. 4) I dont use credit card details as there is too much security needed. 5) For new members I need two forms of identification, one with their name and address, i. e. a bank statement or gas bill for example and one with their photo on, i. e. theirs drivers licence or passport. 6) I havent got a password system. If you think I should have one let me know how you think it would work. The problem is that customers would have to tell me their password and other customers could overhear it so it wouldnt be that secure. Evaluation I think the final product meets the standards set by Mr. Roberts. The only mistakes I have made is that I have given the example members, membership numbers starting at 200 and they are only 3 digit. The final product can do everything specified in the design requirements made by Mr. Roberts. The opinions of the users would be on the questionnaire I made. The only improvements that could be made to my database is that I could maybe produce an automatic report displaying all the information of the member on a report whos video is late, instead of just having a basic template.

Earthquake Engineering :: Earthquakes Earth Geology Essays

Earthquake Engineering Earthquakes are vibrations felt at the surface of the earth which are caused by disturbances of the energy in the earth's interior. These vibrations are known as seismic waves. (Skinner Robinson McVerry 1) There are different type sof seisimc waves such as Primary (P) waves, whcih travel the fastest, Secondary (S) waves which cause the earth to vibrate vertically, Surface (L) waves. P and S waves are "affected by changes in the density and the rigidity of the materials through which they pass." (Columbia Encyclopedia) Earthquakes vary in their intensity and duration. Often times they are strong enough to cause massive destriction. Tall buildings often suffer as a result of these natural disasters. In recent years this has become a larger and larger threat with both the number of large buildings, and their number of occupants increasing. In an effort to try to minimize the damage caused by earthquakes many some engineers focus primarily on designing and constructing ea rthquake resistant buildings. Earthquake engineers have gathered much of their information from analyzing past earthquakes, and learning which buildings can and can't withstand the tremors. The goals of these engineers is to design buildings that can withstand moderate earthquakes and obtain minimal damage, and that the buildings will not collapse lowering the probability of human deaths. Authorities have attempted to implement codes or regulations, but that has proved to be very difficult tasks becasue there are many variables that effect the dynamic response of buildings. One way to try to avoid disaster is to evaluate seismic risk is to look at a buildings hazards, exposure, vulnerability, and location. Hazards are, for example, landslides ad soil type. Exposure is a building's occupancy and function. Vulnerability is the expected performance of a building's system, and location is how often earthquakes occur in the area. (Lagorio) Some other things that have become evident are that geometric simplicity and symmetry are key to constructing an earthquake resistant building. Simplicity often leads to symmetry, and in turn symmetry tends to decrease the likelihood of a concentration of mass. This idea of lighter buildings being safer can be explained mathematically using the formula F=MA. To understand how this formula works it is pertinent to recognize that earthquakes alone do not cause damage because all they provide is an acceleration.

John Adams Defends the Red Coats

Although John Adams defended the British redcoats at the end of 1770, the Boston Massacre actually happened March 5, 1770. Furthermore, events that led to the culmination of that night dated back to 1767 (Timeline). Many factors went into the decision, by John Adams, to defend the British soldiers. The atmosphere of the times dictated much of that evening and of that trial. For the time it was a radical thing for a man such as John Adams to defend the British troops, however his respect of the law led to his defense of the British troops.John Adams was right in defending the redcoat in the Boston Massacre trial because he saw the actions of the redcoats as nothing more than men defending their lives. In 1767, with the passing of the Townshend Acts, the civilians began their resentment towards the British Parliament as well as the British troops stationed in Boston. The Townshend Acts were a series of Acts passed by congress on June 29, 1767 to increase taxes of commonly imported prod ucts on the Colonies.Having new taxes imposed by the British as well as their military presence in Boston angered the civilians. During this time John Adams was a local lawyer in Boston working case to case (Miller Center). In late 1768 more British troops came to reestablish order in Boston per order of the Crown. The climate of this time was a hostile one on the part of the civilians. â€Å"The civilians reacted to the redcoats like they were invaders by taunting them through name calling, spitting, and fighting† (Timeline). By the time March 5, 1770 occurred, an incident had been bound to happen. With the distress of the townspeople and the presence of British soldiers, a disaster like this was waiting to happen. When the dust settled, and the day was done, 5 civilians were killed at the hands of the redcoats. John Adams, a local lawyer in the Boston area and graduate of Harvard, defended in court the men accused of the Boston Massacre. With all of the social pressure, livi ng in Boston, it would have been easy to give up but John Adams saw the law for what the law was. He did not look at it as redcoat against Boston, but as man against man.In his closing argument for the defense of the British soldiers he questioned the jury; â€Å"Would it have been a prudent resolution in them, or in any body in their situation, to have stood still, to see if the sailors would knock their brains out, or not? † (Miss, 5). As a defense lawyer it is their responsibility to make a case for the accused party as reasonable doubt. With that quote John Adams did just that. He posed a question to the jury basically saying â€Å"what were they supposed to do, roll over and die? † He saw the redcoats’ behavior as defense. The entire time the British troops had been stationed in Boston they had not once had an incident such as the Boston Massacre; the only time they opened fire on the Bostonians was when the civilians came at them in a combative manner. John Adams had every right to defend the redcoats with the plausible â€Å"it was in self defense† defense. He was a Harvard Law graduate with a law firm to run and clients he believed were only acting in self defense. His action to defend the redcoats was the just thing to do. The British soldiers were put in a position where there were either going to die or they were going to fight back. The redcoats’ job was to be soldiers for the Crown. The Crown implemented more troops in Boston on October 1, 1768 to reestablish order in that area of the country. At that time the people of Boston were growing increasingly hostile and combative. By the time the Boston Massacre had occurred there was much history between the redcoats and the civilians of Boston. John Adams knew that history and did not choose sides based on loyalty. He interpreted the situation as a â€Å"do or die† situation on the part of the soldiers and defended them as such. He used his knowledge of the law in his closing statement for the defense of the redcoats.Ultimately his position on the Boston Massacre impacted the lives of the British soldiers in a positive way. His actions were noble because he pushed aside his personal history with the city and defended his clients according to the law rather than letting the atmosphere of Boston dictate his defense and his closing argument. Marketing Audit of Diesel - 1555 Words

1. Introduction Since 1950s, Jeans have become and continue to be a staple item of clothing in people’s wardrobes as a medium representing stylish identity and identification (Kramer, KR, 2006). People wear jeans for a range of occasions, from staying at home to going outside at a cinema, restaurant or even a working place. As a report from Mintel states, during the year 2006 and 2010, the percentage of adults who bought jeans had remained relatively stable with over half of them ( 51%) purchasing at least one pair in 2010 (Mintel 2010). At a time when the number of brands offering jeans has risen rapidly, Diesel, which has built an entire existence of passion, originality and creativity, emerges as a strong competitor towards the†¦show more content†¦The radical nature of all its products makes the awareness of its loyalists that Diesel is selling the view that the world is a â€Å"single, boarder-less macro-culture† and a sense of involvement in the premium, dynamic lifestyle rather than simply selling high-quality jeans. 2.1.2 Co-branding collaborations Even though Diesel is extremely successful and influential in the market of luxury and high fashion, it encounters the strong competition from Levi’s, the market leader, and pioneering companies who offer similar products like Lee and Wrangler. Unstable environments, dynamic markets, intense competition, and high costs to enter new markets force companies in various industries to adopt non-traditional, innovative branding strategies, including cobranding, in an attempt to exploit their existing brand equity (Desai Keller, 2002). In recent years, Diesel has collaborated with different range of well-established manufacturers to produce special edition items. This strategy usually provides a tool for differentiation that leverages brands through the transfer of positive associations, such as brand-quality, image, or awareness, from one brand to another (McCarthy Norris, 1999; Simonin Ruth, 1998; Washburn, Till, Priluck, 2000).
